moe. Buffalo Show | Review, Pics, & MP3’s

Thursday In The Square in Buffalo continued its best ever jam band lineup last night with “An Evening With moe.” moe. came on at 5:30 to delight of thousands of fans for a homecoming show. This Buffalo based band was glad to be home in the city were they started in 1990. 17 years later they have established them selves as one the touring jam bands bands on the scene.

Both sets were awesome and you could see moe. feeding off the energy of the crowd and truly glad to be playing on the home turf. There was a short downpour during Nebreska and the whole crowd went crazy. If you haven’t been to a show at Thursday In The Square you should defiantly check it out there’s a few more good shows coming up such as Keller Williams, John Butler Trio, Yonder Mountain String Band, and the North Mississipi All-stars.

Thanks to Team Pittsburgh recorder Gil Galdieri for uploading a great audience recording. You can grab the show here in FLAC or MP3 format moe. Live at Lafayette Square on 2007-07-12.

Gov’t Mule - Euro Tour & Guitar Auction

Gov’t Mule kicked off another week in Europe last Thursday and Friday in Madrid and Barcelona. Tonight they kick off the first of two nights in Warsaw, Poland before rolling on through Stuttgart, Germany (July 11th), Amsterdam, Holland (July 12th), London, U.K., (July 14th) and Peer, Belgium (July 15th). Tickets are still available for these shows, but going quickly. Head to www.mule.net to get tickets.

WARREN HAYNES CUSTOM GUITAR AUCTION

Donny Barnes, wife of Mike Barnes, has breast cancer and has had a bi-lateral mastectomy (removal). She’s undergoing chemo-therapy, and as you might guess, their bills are astronomical with very limited coverage. Mike, as many of you know, is one of Warren’s oldest and closest friends and has participated in many Christmas Jams through the years. We will have several auctions in hope of at least partially covering their needs. Any money left over will be donated to Breast Cancer Research.

The first auction will be a Gibson Warren Haynes signature Les Paul (signed by WH). This is a Gibson Custom Shop model, of which only 150 are being made. For more info on the guitar go to www.gibson.com/warrenhaynes. To bid on the guitar head to www.muleauction.net.

Great Blue Heron 2007 - Review, Video, & MP3’s

The weather was perfect with three days of sun, blugrass and zydeco music at The Great Blue Heron festival. The first day we saw a couple of great performances by Kelly and The Cowboys, Slo-mo, John & Mary and The Valkyries, and the Sim Redmond Band.

On Saturday there was a drumming workshop with Jim Donovan (of Rusted Root.) About 40 people packed into the tent for 2 hours of a drumming.

Saturday also featured a performance by Big Leg Emma, Entrain, The Avett Brothers, and of course Donna The Buffalo with the last set of the evening.

Here’s a 2 sets for download from the festival from Jim McGee:

Sam Roberts Band | Buffalo 7/5/2007 MP3’s & Pics

Last night the masses descended on downtown Buffalo for another free show at “Thursday In The Square.” Sam Roberts put on an high energy show for the Buffalo faithful. Sam Roberts told the crowd that this was the highlight of their summer.

My friend Shawn caught one of the drummers drum sticks that he threw into the crowd. He laid claim to it after wrestling it out of the hand of a Canadian standing next to us. Good work Shawn!

The guys over at UpstateTapers have uploaded an audience recording of the show. Thanks to Daniel Goodwin for taping and uploading.

Derek Trucks Band - Live at Art Park 7/3/2007

Last night I went to see the Derek Trucks Band play at one of the sweetest venue’s I’ve ever been too - Art Park in Lewiston, NY. They put on a great show in front of a very enthusiastic crowd. Derek Trucks (of Allman Brothers fame) showed us why he is considered one of Rolling Stones new Guitar Gods with some extended improvisational jams.

Guest appearances during the show included Derek’s younger brother Duane Trucks (not uncle as previously stated) and Chuck Campbell of the Campbell Brothers on the slide guitar.

Thanks to Chris Prezioso for taping this show and uploading it to the archive one day after the show. You can grab in The Archive here Derek Trucks Band Live at Artpark on 2007-07-03
