The sun has set on the 3rd annual Vegoose Festival in Las Vegas after three days of jamming in the sun. Not much from Vegoose 2007 is online yet. Here is what we have so far. Be sure to check back or subscribe for updates.
Last Monday night we were treated to an excellent jam session with the guys from Chicago at the Harro East Ballroom in Rochester, NY. The turn out was good for Monday night. Outdoors it was very much a festival atmosphere with plenty of heads catching the show after a few Phil Lesh & Friends shows the past couple of nights in upstate, NY.
Last week I claimed that Gov’t Mule was the show currently on tour and after last night mind blowing experiencing at Shea’s in Buffalo, I stand corrected this lineup of Phil Lesh & Friends has their sound dialed. I saw Phil & Friends at Mountain Jam this year and while that was a great show I didn’t think that Phil sounded all that great. Last night Phil made a believer out of me. I’ll be sure to check out any show of his anytime I have the chance.
The crowd at Shea’s was great. Security was fairly lax and let people stand in the aisle. During the 2nd set the place was jam packed. As soon as you walked into the theater area there was the smell of reifer everywhere. I know that dead heads have a reputation of smoking insane amounts of herb - but this is not a stereotype it’s the flat out truth. I’ve never been to a concert where so many people were smoking.

Gov’t Mule jammed on Monday night in Buffalo. It was a cool rainy night but we didn’t mind making the trip up to UB Performing Arts Center for one of the best bands currently on tour.
Grace Potter & The Nocturnals opened the evening with a great set. We later had the pleasure of meeting them and having a few drinks with a couple of guys from the band during the Gov’t Mule set break.
When Gov’t Mule hit the stage they were dead on at this great sounding venue. Unring The Bell in the second set was the highlight of the show with Warren going nuts on the improv.
Many thanks to Chris for uploading a great audience recording of this show. To grab the FLAC files for this show check out the torrent at etree.org

“Blending Malian, American, and “Dirty South” influences into a genre all its own, Toubab Krewe “has set a new standard for fusions of rock ‘n’ roll and West African music,” says Banning Eyre at Afropop Worldwide.
Members of the group developed their unique sound over the course of numerous extended trips to West Africa, where they immersed themselves in the local culture and studied and performed with masters such as Lamine Soumano, Vieux Kante, Madou Dembele, and Koungbanan Conde.
The magnetic instrumental quintet formed in early 2005 and has attracted a diverse and devoted national following, captivating crowds everywhere from the Bonnaroo Music Festival and the Blue Note to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.”

Phil Lesh & Friends put on an excellent show last weekend at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morris Colorado. The Dead Heads descended on arguably one of best outdoor venue’s in the world for three sets of great music.
This is an audience recording but it’s an excellent one and well worth the download. Already there have been over 21,000 downloads of this show on The Archive.
I finnaly got around to uploading the full set of John Butler Trio’s show at Lafayette Square this past summer. As most of you know who follow the goings on here at bandsthatjam.net the free Thursday In The Square concert series this summer was jammin.
