Club Infinity Buffalo, NY

Last night was awesome. Another great night for music in Buffalo, NY. We went and saw RAQ perform at Club Infinity and were treated to two killer sets. It’s amazing how much better live music is as compared to just listening to over the radio or downloading a few songs. I was blown away at their ability to include heavy guitar riffs with improvisational jams.

I was able to video tape most of the fist set but I forgot my 2nd battery and wasn’t able to get any of the 2nd set which is a shame because the 2nd second was amazing.

I spoke with lead guitarist/vocalist Chris Michetti after the show and he said the band will soon be releasing a live album of their performance earlier this year at the famed Mr. Smalls theater in Pittsburgh, PA.

Here’s a few pics from the show. I took these with my iPhone so the quality isn’t the best.

Review: Rebel Jelly | 08.19 Darien Lake Parking Lot

bandthatjam.net exclusive!

Yesterday I went to see Bob Weir & Ratdog along with the Allman Brothers Band at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Buffalo. (I’ll have more on this show later in the week)

In the parking lot there was an awesome jam band by the name of “Rebel Jelly” playing before the show. These guys are from Rochester, NY and are getting gigs all over the east coast even though they’ve only been together for a short time.

From the bands website they consider themselves to be Funk / Pop / Fusion with improvisation for a unique sound. R. Jelly’s members share a wide range of influences. We feel the one’s most touched upon in this musical context are Stevie Wonder, Bill Frisell, Carter Beauford, The Meters, Thom Yorke and Micheal Jackson - other influences include sleep deprivation, humor, free food and the inexplicable passion.

To find out when these guys are playing near you check their official website at http://www.rebeljelly.com/live/

Drumming At Griffis Sculpture Park | 08.14.07

I returned to the southern tier of NY state again tonight to participate in a drum circle/workshop at Griffis Sculpture Park in Ellicotville, NY. It was the the perfect evening and venue for drumming with over 20 drummers of all ages participating in a truely one of a kind event.

This was my first visit to Griffis Sclupture Park and I was blown away by this slice of heaven tucked away in Western NY. Simon Griffis, Executive Director of the Ashford Hollow Foundation hosted the event with the help of T.R. McKotch, Rhonda Harp, & Doug Sitler whose drumming expertise blended the structure of a workshop with the free form environment of a drum circle where experienced drummers and new comers came together to explore tribal drumming at it’s finest.

This this event in as many months capped a very successful summer of drumming sessions at Griffis Sculpture Park. Below are a couple of pics that I took of event. For pictures of previous events and information on the Griffis Sculpture Park check out their official website at www.griffispark.org.

Grassroots Festival 2007 | Review, Pics, & Videos

I’ve been gone the past week at the Grassroots Festival in Trumansburg, NY which wrapped up it’s 17th year of local and international music acts on Sunday.

The first couple of days camping on the side of the road were fun but it made for a long weekend especially with the rain the first couple of days. It was well worth it though when the gates opened on Thursday we were able to get our best camping spot ever at the edge of the infield stage. The weather cleared by Friday and we had 3 solid days of fun and music in the sun.

Highlights of our weekend included John Browns Body, Keith Frank, The Cat Empire, Bearfoot, and JSan Analouge Sons & of course local favorites and hosts of the festival Donna The Buffalo. 12,000 festival goers attended this weekends event.

Check out the pics as well as a few videos from the weekend that we took below.

enjoy!

moe. Buffalo Show | Review, Pics, & MP3’s

Thursday In The Square in Buffalo continued its best ever jam band lineup last night with “An Evening With moe.” moe. came on at 5:30 to delight of thousands of fans for a homecoming show. This Buffalo based band was glad to be home in the city were they started in 1990. 17 years later they have established them selves as one the touring jam bands bands on the scene.

Both sets were awesome and you could see moe. feeding off the energy of the crowd and truly glad to be playing on the home turf. There was a short downpour during Nebreska and the whole crowd went crazy. If you haven’t been to a show at Thursday In The Square you should defiantly check it out there’s a few more good shows coming up such as Keller Williams, John Butler Trio, Yonder Mountain String Band, and the North Mississipi All-stars.
